Electric cigarette often referred to as an e-cigarette, offers smokers 5 main benefits:

• They have not been found to have tar or related toxins of regular tobacco cigarettes.
• They cost considerably less than tobacco cigarettes.
• They do not need to be lit up and they don't burn.
• Smokers do not need to carry lighters or matches to use them.
• Smokers do not need to look for ashtrays since they produce no ash.

Let’s look at each of these benefits in much more detail.

1. E-cigarettes are designed to contain neither tar nor toxins.

Although traditional cigarettes are known for toxic carbon monoxide, they, in fact, contain more than 4,000 toxins. E-cigarettes are not made up of tobacco and consequently don't have toxins related to chemicals in tobacco.

2. E-cigarettes are much less expensive than traditional cigarettes.

While a pack of regular cigarettes costs about $6 a pack, an e-cigarette cartridge will only cost $2. In other words, they cost about a third less. What’s more, these cartridges can be refilled with e-liquid nitrogen, which brings the cost down to $1 for a pack.

3. E-cigarettes are smoke-free.

Often smoking can be problematic because of second hand smoke. Since this bothers non-smokers because it endangers their health, many places ban smoking cigarettes. This makes it difficult for a smoker to light up in a bar, a restaurant, a bus ride, a train, or an airplane. Smokers sometimes have to suffer withdrawal symptoms until they can be in an open environment. However, with electric cigarettes only water vapor is released and it disappears almost instantly. Moreover, this vapor does not pollute the atmosphere and does not harm others in the vicinity.

Another problem with smoke is that it smells and the smell gets into the smokers breath, skin, hair, and clothes. The odoriferous smell of tobacco smoke is equivalent to having bad body odor. With electric cigarettes, there is no odor because there is no smoke.

5. E-cigarettes are non-flammable.

Since you don’t need to “light up” an e-cigarette, you avoid all the problems associated with matches and lighters like added cost, needing to make sure you have some on you when you feel like you want a cigarette, or even accidentally starting a fire. You also avoid burning yourself, your clothes, or even other people. Electric cigarettes don’t light up and don’t heat up like tobacco cigarettes.

7. E-cigarettes don’t produce ash.

With electric cigarettes, you don’t need an ashtray to dispose of ash and grind out cigarette butts. After a smoke, just drop the e-cigarette back in your pocket.

Mike Hollis blogs about electric cigarettes and informs smokers about this new technology. This article is not intended to condone smoking or insinuate that electronic cigarettes provide health benefits.
